Denture Stabilisation

Denture Stabilisation

If you have loose or ill-fitting dentures, your ability to eat and speak may become affected.

Over time, the gum that your denture sits on gradually changes. As this takes place, a gap can then form underneath the denture. As a result, the denture can be more unstable and have a tendency to move and allow food to become caught under it.

One solution is to reline the denture. This involves taking a mould of the denture and sending it to our lab - usually only an overnight process. The void under the denture is then replaced with more of the special denture acrylic helping to stabilise the denture again.

Due to the advances in dentistry, your dentures can now be stabilised with the use of dental implants. These are known as implant overdentures. It offers a far more secure option and can really improve your quality of life being able to chew your favorite foods with your denture securely in place. There is also likely to be less irritation to the gums under the denture as the denture will be more secure.
